Aron Starosta, Ph.D. Joins University City Science Center As Vice President, Commercialization and New Ventures

(Original Post) – PHILADELPHIA, PA — (December 2, 2020) – Aron Starosta, Ph.D. has joined the University City Science Center as Vice President, Commercialization and New Ventures.

With close to 30 years in healthcare and venture capital reviewing the technical and commercial investment viability of numerous start-ups, Dr. Starosta will build on the Science Center’s legacy of supporting promising technology and startups through its suite of Commercialization programs.  

Over the 25 years, Dr. Starosta has consulted and run over 25 accelerators on behalf of universities, nonprofit research entities, and multiple $1B+ corporations. Among them, the Science Center’s Digital Health Accelerator and most recently, the Launch Lane Accelerator which have collectively supported 27 companies that have gone on to raise over $100M+ in follow-on funding and raise $50M+ in revenue.

Through faculty appointments at the schools of medicine at New York University and University of Pennsylvania, Aron has seen the drug development process through most of it phases and has been employed as an addiction-domain expert by a number of pharmaceutical companies. In this latter capacity, Aron worked as a researcher and a national speaker on the development and treatment of medications to treat various forms of addiction, including addiction to opiates and alcohol. Aron has also served as an independent information technology consultant, working on process management and technology transfer.

Dr. Starosta completed his bachelor’s degree at McGill University and received advanced degrees in psychology and neuroscience from Temple University.

Through its Commercialization programs, Science Center is a leader in the development of biotechnology across the region.
