Hallison Rodrigues

Born in Brazil, I moved to Silicon Valley, Northern California, with my mother and brother in 2005 and eventually went to college at San Francisco State University in 2007. The plan was to become a doctor, so I did a lot of volunteering, including in hospitals, that actually helped me decide not to pursue a health profession career. I did, however, learn that I could use my biology degree to work as a scientist and in 2012 I started volunteering in a laboratory at San Jose State University; that was my “crash course” on laboratory science where I learned PCR, cell culturing, and FISH. I absolutely fell in love with life in the lab.

In 2013 I finally caught my break and got hired by a startup company trying to launch a fully automated blood glucose monitoring device, which we did in 2015. I grew a lot as a professional during that time, but in 2016 I was eager to find out how bigger companies worked so I went through stints with Abbott and Roche between 2016-2019 helping them launch IVD devices and expanding my wet lab technique portfolio, writing skills, and analytical skills along the way. Unfortunately, life got really expensive in California, so my wife and I decided to move to Maryland in 2021. We just bought a house, and we are fully committed to raising a family here in Frederick County. In 2022, I can honestly say that I love product development, but more so the quality side of it so I decided to steer my career in that direction, starting with becoming a quality control scientist.

Outside of work, I am a very laid-back guy.  I love taking long walks with my wife and dog (a lovely Aussie Shepherd named Marvel), watching movies (I am a huge Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, hence our dog’s name), sports, and playing video games

Trevor Zimmerman

I was born and raised in Baldwin, Wisconsin. I obtained a BS degree in environmental science with a minor in environmental engineering at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Shortly after graduation, I moved to Madison, Wisconsin to start work at PPD, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific (a top-performing CRO). I have been with PPD, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific for about four years where I typically performed routine stability/release testing on a variety of drug products/substances.

Recently, I attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison, where I obtained an MS degree in applied drug development (accelerated 1-year program, full-time) while working full-time and continuing a part-time job at Kwik Trip (a local midwestern gas station). During my program, I transferred to the BioA department within PPD where I performed a qualitative study on VAMS, which will be presented at the ASMS conference this year!

In my downtime, I love to research cryptids/conspiracy theories, go hiking, and spend time with my fiancé and friends/family. I do not have any children, but I do have 3 cats.
