Dr. Jim Pannucci Appointed Managing Director, Life Sciences Market Strategy for MITRE
MITRE has named Dr. Jim Pannucci as Managing Director for Life Sciences Market Strategy, where he and his team are building an enduring line of life sciences capabilities that enable future health technologies and address unmet medical needs. Pannucci is responsible for focusing on conducting proof of concept studies, creating prototypes, applying new technologies, and closing critical knowledge gaps in the life sciences with emphasis on HHS and other USG priorities in biological sciences, medicine, preparedness, and bio-surveillance.
“Jim’s experience leading large-scale, complex life sciences projects, bio-defense, and FDA drug development processes naturally complement MITRE’s health team as we deliver differentiated mission impact for our Federal health sponsors,” said Jerry Hogge, Senior Vice President and General Manager, MITRE Public Sector. “Jim will work closely with existing health and life sciences program organizations and collaborate on MITRE internal development programs as we strive to make a positive impact for our nation and the future of healthcare.”
Jim Pannucci’s career in science has spanned the diverse business cultures across the pharmaceutical industry, national laboratories, federally funded research and development centers, and contract services for research and program management. As a scientist, he’s worked on early-stage biopharmaceuticals for cancer, infectious diseases, and biodefense. This includes the discovery and design of peptides that help the immune system better respond to cancer, infectious diseases, and vaccines, which resulted in seven patent filings and four publications.
Jim has spent years developing novel malaria vaccines for the NIH. His team worked on 20+ vaccine candidates spread across multiple production and delivery platforms with five products proceeding into clinical trials. His time at the bench evolved into leadership roles where he was responsible for strategy, business and pipeline development, P/L management, and R&D operations. Now, as Managing Director of the Life Sciences Market Strategy at MITRE, he is focused on delivering on the company’s mission of solving problems for a safer world.
“MITRE is a forward-thinking organization with mission impact as its most important motivator. I’m excited to be here and for the opportunity to develop a research program that will make a difference for global health outcomes.” said Jim Pannucci.
MITRE’s mission-driven teams are dedicated to solving problems for a safer world. Through our public-private partnerships and federally funded R&D centers, we work across government and in partnership with industry to tackle challenges to the safety, stability, and well-being of our nation.
