Mindfulness for Women in STEM
January 10 @ 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
We’re excited to announce the Association for Women in STEM-Greater Baltimore Chapter Winter Meeting! Join us on January 10th, 2023 at Guilford Hall Brewery for our next meeting, Mindfulness for Women in STEM! Our meeting will be led by Dr. Neda Gould, Director of the Mindfulness Program at Johns Hopkins University. With more than 12 years of experience as a clinical psychologist and teaching mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), Dr. Gould will share insights and tips on stress management, self-care, and maintaining mindfulness as a woman in STEM.
“Research has shown actual changes in brain structure and function following the practice of mindfulness/meditation. It’s pretty remarkable that we have the power within our minds to shift these bodily processes.”- Dr. Neda Gould, 2019.
The benefits of mindfulness have been shown to reduce stress and counter Imposter Syndrome, a phenomena that many women in STEM are are unfortunately familiar with. Whether you would like to start practicing mindfulness as a New Year Resolution or to simply find new methods of battling stress and anxiety, join us on January 10th to meet fellow Baltimore women in STEM and learn about the practice of mindfulness. Our event will run from 5-8, with the main event starting at 6 PM and time to network before and after the event. This event is free and open to both AWIS members and non-members. The first 20 guests will enjoy a free drink ticket and we will have a raffle of items generously donated by favorite local Baltimore businesses.
