LaunchPort Announces New Partnerships with Residents to Promote Diagnostic/IVD Device Development

Jul 12, 2022- LaunchPort is announcing a new partnership in conjunction with their Resident companies to offer design, prototyping and commercial assessment for technology innovators in the diagnostics space.  For those developers that are in the early to intermediate stages of commercialization or translation, this expertise and access to these development tools can be a critical multiplier in achieving both efficiency and speed to market.  Capabilities to support this specific area of interest are noted below.

The LaunchPort is a Medical Device Venture Center and ISO-13485 Contract Manufacturing operation at the City Garage in Baltimore’s Port Covington (https://www.pc.city/), that allows Medtech start-ups and emerging technology developers the ability to co-locate at an experienced, regulated manufacturing center. The nationally unique model operates as a “pilot plant” for Medtech companies that have emerged from incubation and are beginning their foray into clinical adoption and commercial deployment.

LaunchPort has recently announced expansion plans and is currently in the midst of expanding manufacturing/clean room areas as well as opening additional space in the venture center for emerging growth medical device companies.  City Garage owner Scheer Partners (https://scheerpartners.com/) has also embarked on a conversion process (of the original Under Armor Lighthouse R&D facility) to wet-labs, allowing the overall site to provide a truly unique opportunity to companies that require facilities for both bioassay development and electromechanical development support.
