About Our Annual Awards

BioBuzz’s Annual Awards celebrate the people, programs, and organizations who go above and beyond to support the success of our communities, the industry, and the patients that ultimately benefit. Six categories are recognized annually.
 
A nomination period, followed by voting to identify finalists and a winner precedes our annual celebration of the winners thanks to our incredible sponsors.

A Quick History

1st Annual Awards

Our 1st Annual Awards launched in the BioHealth Capital Region. Voting began in November 2019, winners were announced in January 2020 and the winners were celebrated virtually in April 2021 (due to COVID-19).

2nd Annual Awards

Our 2nd Annual Awards was held in person at City Garage Science & Technology Center in Baltimore, MD. Over 100 industry leaders joined us from the BioHealth Capital Region to celebrate our award winners.

Our 3rd Annual Awards was momentous as it celebrated both the BioHealth Capital Region and Greater Philadelphia. Our Celebration & Symposium in May 2023 garnered record attendance with 300+ industry leaders.

2023 Annual Awards

Join us as we make history and launch market-specific awards. This year we’ll host our 4th Annual Awards in the BioHealth Capital Region (MD, DC, VA) and our Inaugural Awards in Greater Philadelphia. The timeline for both is as follows:

Step 1: Nominate

Starting October 1, 2023

Your favorite has to be in it to win it! From October 1, 2023 to January 1, 2024 we encourage you, our BioBuzz community, to nominate your favorite people and organizations in our designated categories (per market).

Step 2: Vote

January 18, 2024 – Feburary 29, 2024

Five nominees from each market advance to the official ballot and voting is open to pick the winners!

Step 3: Celebrate

April 1, 2024 – May 3, 2024

We’re eager to announce and celebrate our winners and their impact. Stay tuned for more.

Virginia Bioscience Foundation
The Virginia Bioscience Foundation helps raise funds and implement programs in bioSTEM and workforce. BioSTEM programs include meaningful student internships in businesses, teacher and student travel to bioscience businesses and bioSTEM forums, enriching educational resources for the classroom, local, state and national science fairs, and conferences that bring together teachers, curriculum developers, students and businesses to further our goals.
