People on the Move: Ingrid Zhang Named Chief Executive Officer of Legend Biotech

Legend Biotech has appointed Ingrid Zhang as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 15, 2026, succeeding Alan Bash, who served as Interim CEO. “Following a comprehensive search process, the Board concluded that Ingrid is the right leader to guide Legend Biotech through its next phase of growth,” said Frank Zhang, EMBA, PhD, Chairman of the Board. “As a highly respected industry executive, Ingrid brings strategic vision, operational discipline, and experience leading complex global businesses. The Board is confident she is well-positioned to advance our mission of transforming patient care through cell therapy.”

Zhang joins Legend Biotech from Novartis, where she spent 13 years, most recently as Chief Commercial Officer of Novartis International, driving commercial excellence, launch strategy, and portfolio decisions across the company’s international markets. She previously served as President and Managing Director of Novartis China and, before that, as President of Novartis Pharmaceuticals China, leading business development across the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. Earlier in her Novartis career, she was Country Pharma Organization Head and Country President for Poland, and held business unit leadership roles in China spanning specialty care and primary care portfolios.

Before Novartis, Zhang spent six years at AstraZeneca, rising from Marketing Director in Milan to Business Unit Head of Oncology and CNS in China, and held a strategic planning and business development role at Pfizer. She began her career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Zhang holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Lycoming College.
