Gaithersburg’s Georgiamune Raises $93 Million Series B for Its Cancer and Autoimmune Pipeline

Georgiamune, a Gaithersburg, Maryland-based clinical-stage biotech with roughly 30 employees, has raised approximately $92.69 million in Series B financing to advance its cancer and autoimmune disease programs, with Prevail Private Capital and Mubadala Capital leading the round.

A Large Round, Structured in Two Tranches

The Series B was structured across B1 and B2 tranches and values Georgiamune at a pre-money valuation of roughly $296.31 million. By size, the round lands in approximately the 92nd percentile among comparable U.S. health-sector Series B deals, based on an analysis of more than 3,700 similar rounds, well above the typical size for a Series B in the sector.

Reprogramming the Immune System, From Cancer to Autoimmune Disease

Georgiamune was founded by CEO Dr. Samir N. Khleif, a medical oncologist and immunology researcher, on discoveries from his own lab around reprogramming immune signaling pathways to restore what the company calls “immune balance.” That platform has produced three clinical-stage candidates so far: GIM-122, a first-in-class dual-functioning monoclonal antibody designed to overcome immunotherapy resistance in solid tumors that have stopped responding to checkpoint inhibitors; GIM-531, a first-in-class oral therapy that selectively targets T-regulatory cells while sparing other immune cells, also aimed at cancers unresponsive to checkpoint inhibitors; and GIM-407, an oral, first-in-class selective T-regulatory cell activator now in a Phase 1 healthy-volunteer study, which Georgiamune is developing for autoimmune conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, and type 1 diabetes. Khleif has tied the pipeline directly to the company’s mission, saying of GIM-407’s clinical start that it “emphasizes our mission to deliver breakthrough therapeutics for patients with high unmet needs.”

Part of a Broader Run for Montgomery County Biotech

The raise follows Georgiamune’s $75 million Series A in August 2023, which came alongside FDA clearance of the company’s first Investigational New Drug application and drew a syndicate that included General Catalyst, the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, Alexandria Venture Investments, Catalio Capital Management, CJNV BioVenture, and Verition Fund Management, alongside Mubadala Capital, which now returns to co-lead this Series B. The new round also adds to a strong recent stretch for Maryland’s Montgomery County life sciences corridor: four companies in the county raised a combined $117.66 million in August 2026 alone, including a $15 million Series A for Jesse & Ben’s and a smaller raise for Cerium Pharmaceuticals.
