People on the Move: Richard Gorman Joins Vogenx as Chief Commercial Officer

Vogenx, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, focused on novel therapeutics for serious metabolic and gastrointestinal diseases, has named Richard Gorman as its new Chief Commercial Officer. The appointment marks a direct transition from oversight to execution, as Gorman steps down from his four-year tenure as an independent member of the company’s Board of Directors to join the executive leadership team.

About Richard Gorman

Vogenx is crossing a distinct operational threshold. Following its IPO (initial public offering) in August 2026, the company is preparing to advance its lead product candidate, mizagliflozin, into later-stage clinical development for post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH) and gastroparesis. At this stage of the corporate lifecycle, clinical questions begin to share space with commercial ones: how to define target markets, how to establish pricing frameworks, and how to build the infrastructure required to reach patients. Moving a trusted board member with three decades of commercial experience into a newly created CCO role signals an immediate pivot toward building that launch readiness. In his new capacity, Gorman will lead commercial operations, corporate strategy, and early business development and licensing efforts.

Gorman arrives with a 30-year track record that includes more than 25 product launches across U.S. and international markets, spanning rare diseases and specialty products with peak sales ranging from $350 million to over $3 billion. His background is heavily anchored in guiding development-stage companies through the complex transition to commercial execution including building infrastructure, establishing distribution models, and developing pricing and market access strategies. Notably, his experience includes several metabolic disease launches, including the U.S. launch strategy for one of the earliest GLP-1 receptor agonists, a highly relevant background as Vogenx navigates the metabolic disease landscape.

Most recently, Gorman served as President of Life Science Commercialization and Strategic Consulting at Envision Pharma Group, following the combination of its Two Labs and Strategic Consulting units. There, he led launch readiness, health economics, and pricing strategy for emerging biopharma companies bringing their first products to market. His earlier executive roles include serving as Chief Commercial Officer and Global Head of Strategy at Amplity Health, Global Head of Commercial Business Development at Syneos Health, and Chief Executive of a specialty pharmaceutical company. He also held senior leadership positions at Andrx Pharmaceuticals, Thergen, Tiber Laboratories, and Gorbec Pharmaceutical Services, having begun his career in sales and marketing at Marion Laboratories.

Green noted that as the company prepares to move mizagliflozin into later-stage development, the central challenges are shifting toward defining markets and reaching patients who currently lack FDA-approved drug options, making Gorman’s move to the management team a strategic imperative.

For his part, Gorman emphasized the clinical need driving the transition. “I have spent years watching this team do a great deal in a capital efficient manner, and the need for mizagliflozin has only gotten stronger,” Gorman shared on LinkedIn. “PBH and gastroparesis are serious, underserved conditions with limited pharmacological options, and I am glad to be joining the leadership team at this pivotal time for the company.”

Gorman holds a B.S. from John Carroll University and an M.B.A. from the University of South Florida.
