Georgiamune has signed an exclusive worldwide licensing and collaboration agreement with Italy’s Menarini Group for GIM-621, an experimental oral cancer immunotherapy. Georgiamune is set to receive $45 million in upfront and near-term payments, with the agreement potentially worth up to $1.1 billion if specified milestones are achieved, plus royalties on future sales.
What the Agreement Covers
Under the deal, Stemline Therapeutics, Menarini’s wholly owned oncology subsidiary, receives exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize GIM-621. The $1.1 billion figure is the maximum potential value, including contingent preclinical, development, regulatory and commercial payments. It is not cash Georgiamune has already received. The companies did not disclose the division between upfront and near-term payments or the royalty rate. Independent industry coverage also reported the $45 million payment package and milestone-dependent deal value.
A Preclinical Oral Immunotherapy
GIM-621 is a small-molecule candidate intended to influence immune responses against solid tumors. It remains preclinical, meaning its safety and effectiveness have not yet been established in human trials. The announcement does not identify its molecular target, specify the cancers to be studied first or provide a timeline for clinical testing. Menarini brings an existing oncology commercial operation through Stemline, which markets treatments including elacestrant and tagraxofusp.
Georgiamune’s Growing Pipeline
The licensing deal adds an external development partner while Georgiamune continues its own clinical programs. The company lists GIM-407, an oral regulatory T-cell activator for autoimmune disease; GIM-531, an oral regulatory T-cell inhibitor for cancer; and GIM-122, a dual-function antibody for cancer. In 2023, Georgiamune announced a $75 million Series A financing alongside FDA clearance of an investigational new drug application for GIM-122. It subsequently announced the first patient dosed with GIM-531 in 2024. The newly licensed GIM-621 remains separate from those clinical-stage programs.
