Brian Shea Joins Conner Strong & Buckelew as Senior Partner in National Construction Practice

Industry veteran Brian Shea brings more than three decades of construction and casualty expertise to support complex project risk across high-growth sectors.

Conner Strong & Buckelew has announced that Brian Shea has joined the firm as Senior Partner in its National Construction Practice. Based in New York City, Shea will help expand the firm’s commercial insurance portfolio and construction capabilities nationwide.

Shea brings more than 31 years of experience in construction and casualty risk management. He most recently served as Resident Managing Director for the New York City metropolitan area at Aon, where he led a portfolio of complex commercial accounts and directed the firm’s construction practice in one of the country’s most demanding markets. His work included advising major contractors and developers, structuring risk programs, and leading carrier negotiations.

Prior to Aon, Shea spent more than 15 years at Arch Insurance as Senior Vice President and National Underwriting Manager for Construction Casualty, overseeing one of the industry’s largest and most complex portfolios. Earlier in his career, he held a regional leadership role at AIG, building his foundation in underwriting and casualty risk management.

Supporting Growth in Complex Infrastructure Sectors

In his new role, Shea will work alongside Conner Strong & Buckelew’s established construction and real estate teams, supporting clients across large-scale and technically complex projects, including those requiring customized insurance structures such as OCIPs and CCIPs.

“Brian’s deep expertise in construction and complex program design significantly enhances our capabilities,” said Terry Tracy, Co-President and National Property/Casualty Leader at Conner Strong & Buckelew. “His national reputation and experience advising large-scale construction clients align seamlessly with our commitment to delivering sophisticated, consultative risk solutions.”

As sectors like life sciences continue to expand their physical footprint—from advanced manufacturing to specialized lab environments—the demand for experienced construction risk advisors is increasing. Shea’s background positions him to support projects where precision, compliance, and execution are critical.
