Doylestown’s Evrys Bio CEO Lillian Chiang Receives Timothy M. Block Biotech Impact Award

Lillian Chiang, Founder and CEO of Doylestown, Pennsylvania-based Evrys Bio, has received the Timothy M. Block Biotech Impact Award from the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC). Evrys Bio is an early-stage biopharmaceutical company developing small-molecule antiviral drugs. The company shared the news in a LinkedIn post, noting that the award recognizes the work of both Chiang and Evrys Bio. Chiang received the award on October 15, 2026 at PABC’s Regional Biotechnology Conference in Doylestown.

Honored at PABC’s Regional Biotechnology Conference

The award was presented by Lou Kassa, CEO of the Hepatitis B Foundation, the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute, and the PABC.

Chiang also joined a panel at the conference alongside other PABC members, including Oren Gilad, Allen Reitz, and Renold Capocasale. The panel was moderated by Grant Castor. In its post, the company called the PABC a great and supportive community.

Evrys Bio’s Approach to Viral Infections

Evrys Bio is developing allosteric, small-molecule modulators of SIRT2, a member of the sirtuin family of proteins that help regulate cellular processes. Its platform is based on discoveries made at Princeton University.

Rather than attacking a virus directly, the company’s drugs target the host cell. According to Evrys Bio, levels of the molecule NAD+ rise during viral infection, which increases SIRT2 activity. Modulating SIRT2 shifts the cell’s metabolism to create an environment that is unfavorable to viruses, the company says. Evrys Bio is pursuing this host-targeted approach to treat a broad range of viruses while lowering the risk of drug resistance.

The company’s lead asset, EV-100, is investigational, and Evrys Bio describes it as ready for clinical testing. Its published research has covered hepatitis B virus, human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).

About Lillian Chiang

Chiang founded Evrys Bio in May 2012 and has led it as CEO since.

From 2013 to 2014, she was adjunct faculty at Drexel University, serving as a research faculty member at the Blumberg Institute in the PABC. From 2008 to 2013, she was adjunct faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. There, she co-created and co-taught a course on the science and development path behind biopharmaceutical innovation, and taught in the Roy and Diana Vagelos Program in Life Sciences and Management.

From 2009 to 2012, Chiang was a founding member and Vice President of Translational Medicine at Kadmon Corporation in New York. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, she led biomarker plans, manufacturing bioassay development, and translational support for clinical teams from Investigational New Drug (IND) filings through Phase 3.

Before Kadmon, Chiang was Founder and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Aestus Therapeutics in North Brunswick, New Jersey, from 2005 to 2008. The company used a formalized process to mine public genomic data for new uses of therapeutics that had previously failed in efficacy. Its first neuropathic pain product went from therapeutic hypothesis to completion of Phase 2a in five years. During that time, she was also a member of the Systems Biology program in the School of Natural Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.

From 2001 to 2004, Chiang was a Director at Purdue Pharma in Cranbury, New Jersey. She built and led a 14-person molecular biology department that identified and validated drug targets for pain and abuse therapy. Earlier, she spent four years as a Senior Scientist II at Millennium Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There, she developed array-based gene expression technology and invented a brain-specific cDNA array for discovering genes involved in neurodegeneration.

Chiang holds an MBA from The Wharton School and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neurobiology at Stanford University. She earned a PhD in bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Bachelor of Science in life science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

About Evrys Bio

Evrys Bio is an anti-infective drug discovery company based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The company says its small-molecule platform allows it to fine-tune SIRT2 modulation, tailoring drugs to different viruses, indications, and therapeutic areas. Its work is supported by non-dilutive funding, according to the company.
