Elvinix Inc., a Dover, Delaware-based biopharmaceutical company developing regenerative therapy for type 1 diabetes (T1D), announced on September 15, 2026 an exclusive license agreement with Zealand Pharma A/S for Zealand’s GLP-1/gastrin dual-agonist peptide portfolio, along with the accompanying preclinical data package.
CEO Daniil Koshelev said: “This license gives us a peptide platform backed by years of rigorous preclinical work, freeing us to focus on what matters most: advancing a potentially first-in-class, disease-modifying therapy for type 1 diabetes. Patients have waited a long time for treatments that can change the course of this disease, and this is a meaningful step toward delivering one.”
What the License Brings In-House
The deal hands Elvinix rights to develop and commercialize a peptide platform built on Zealand’s core discovery work in GLP-1/gastrin dual agonism, rather than starting a program from scratch. Zealand Pharma, a Copenhagen-based peptide medicine company founded in 1998, has advanced more than 10 self-invented drug candidates into clinical development, with two now on the market and three more in late-stage development; the release doesn’t disclose upfront payment, milestone, or royalty terms for the Elvinix agreement. Elvinix’s approach is aimed specifically at restoring and protecting a patient’s own insulin-producing beta cells rather than only managing symptoms of the disease.

T1D affects an estimated 9.5 million people worldwide, and Elvinix was co-founded by Dr. Alex Rabinovitch, Dr. Jay Skyler, and Dr. Alexander Fleming; the release doesn’t detail their individual roles or backgrounds. The company’s program is currently in preclinical development, with Elvinix now planning clinical studies to test the licensed peptide platform.
