Malvern-based Neuronetics debuts a nearly 7,000-square-foot “National Center of Excellence” built to scale advanced depression treatment and pilot new interventional psychiatry approaches.
Neuronetics, Inc. (NASDAQ: STIM) marked the grand opening of Greenbrook Mental Wellness Centers’ National Center of Excellence in Rockville, Maryland on July 28. At nearly 7,000 square feet, the facility is the largest Greenbrook center built to date and is intended to serve as a national model for how the company delivers advanced, patient-centered mental health care. The center is overseen by Neuronetics Chief Medical Officer Dr. Geoffrey Grammer, who also maintains clinical hours on-site and continues seeing patients directly.
The Rockville location, at 15001 Shady Grove Road, Suite 220, was designed around a specific gap in care: patients with depression and other psychiatric conditions who haven’t responded to first-line therapies. To meet that need, the center supports high-volume operations for both NeuroStar Advanced Therapy, the company’s transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) system, and SPRAVATO (esketamine) nasal spray, and holds REMS certification required to administer the latter.
“The Rockville Center of Excellence is more than a new facility; it is a blueprint for the future of interventional psychiatry,” said Cory Anderson, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Greenbrook.
A Flagship for Treatment-Resistant Depression
NeuroStar Advanced Therapy is FDA-cleared for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults and in adolescents 15 and older, and is also cleared as an adjunct treatment for OCD and for anxious distress in MDD patients. SPRAVATO is reserved for treatment-resistant depression and for MDD accompanied by suicidal ideation. Housing both therapies at scale in one flagship location lets Greenbrook route patients to whichever treatment path fits their diagnosis without sending them elsewhere in the network.
“Treatment-resistant depression remains one of the most urgent challenges in mental health care,” said Dr. Grammer, who leads the center’s clinical operations alongside his role as Neuronetics’ chief medical officer.
Built for Clinical Innovation, Too
Beyond patient volume, the Rockville center doubles as Greenbrook’s National Center for Clinical Innovation and Research, a role the company says will let it pilot emerging treatment modalities in a single, closely monitored setting before rolling them out across its broader interventional psychiatry network. Neuronetics has positioned that network, built through NeuroStar and Greenbrook together, as one of the largest of its kind in the United States.
The opening lands the same week Pennsylvania’s own life sciences sector is drawing fresh state investment through Innovate in PA 2.0, underscoring how much of the country’s interventional psychiatry and biotech infrastructure continues to trace back to Mid-Atlantic-based companies — Neuronetics itself is headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
