(Nasdaq: OBIO), the New Hope, Pennsylvania-based biomedical innovation company, announced on September 15, 2026 that it received a $6.1 million milestone payment on September 14 tied to Haemonetics Corporation’s (NYSE: HAE) acquisition of Vivasure Medical Limited, a company Orchestra BioMed has held a strategic stake in since its own formation. The payment follows an approximately $5 million upfront payment Orchestra BioMed received in January 2026, bringing its total proceeds from the deal to roughly $11 million, with up to $10 million more available through future revenue-based earnouts for a potential total of $21 million.
A Strategic Stake Pays Off
The $6.1 million marks the first milestone payment tied to Haemonetics’ acquisition of Vivasure, which closed on January 9, 2026 — distinct from the upfront payment Orchestra BioMed received when the deal was first announced. Vivasure’s lead product, the PerQseal® Elite system, is a bioabsorbable patch that seals large-bore arteriotomies and venotomies from inside the vessel, offering a sutureless alternative for structural heart and endovascular procedures; it is not currently available for sale in the United States. The remaining $10 million in potential earnouts is tied to unspecified future revenue milestones, which the release does not detail further.
Funding Orchestra’s Own Pivotal Programs
Orchestra BioMed says proceeds from the Vivasure monetization will help fund its two flagship product candidates, both currently in pivotal clinical trials: AVIM Therapy, a bioelectronic hypertension treatment developed with Medtronic and delivered through a pacemaker, which holds FDA Breakthrough Device Designation and targets an estimated 7.7 million U.S. patients with uncontrolled hypertension despite medical therapy; and Virtue® SAB, a non-coated drug-delivery angioplasty balloon system that has earned FDA Breakthrough Device Designation across three indications, including coronary in-stent restenosis, coronary small vessel disease, and below-the-knee peripheral artery disease.
