One Year In, Krieger Scientific Is Building a Different Kind of Life Sciences Services Firm

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (October 28, 2026) – One year after opening its doors, Krieger Scientific has built its business on a simple idea: life sciences organizations should get exactly the help they need, from people who stay with them. The compliance and technical solutions firm scopes every engagement to the client’s actual need, whether that is qualifying a single instrument or building a full program, and keeps experienced leaders involved from the first conversation onward.

Life sciences organizations depend on a long chain of specialized work to keep regulated equipment compliant and reliable: commissioning, qualification, validation, calibration, maintenance, relocation, and eventually decommissioning. Too often, that work is split among separate vendors, each responsible for its own slice. The client ends up coordinating schedules, chasing documentation, and managing the very providers it hired to make its life easier.

At the same time, many larger providers sell standardized packages. Some clients get more program than they asked for. Others find their needs too small to get real attention. Either way, the engagement is shaped around what the provider sells rather than what the client needs.

An Answer Shaped by Decades in the Industry

Founder and CEO Joseph C. Morwald spent more than 35 years working across life sciences organizations before founding Krieger Scientific. That experience gives him a firsthand understanding of what clients actually ask for, and how often the market answers with something else. Even though standardized pricing and off-the-shelf service packages are easier to quote, sell, and deliver, building each engagement around a specific need is more difficult to scope and price. Krieger was built to take on this harder work.

“We’re not in it because it’s easy. We’re in it because we love challenges,” says Morwald. “A client who needs one piece of equipment qualified deserves the same seriousness as a client who needs a full program built from the ground up.”

Built Around Your Need. Not the Engagement.

That principle sits at the core of Krieger’s model. Every engagement starts with the client’s actual need, and their companion principle guides how it is scoped: We meet you where you are. Some clients arrive knowing exactly what they need: a new instrument qualified before it goes into service, a handful of systems moved to a new building, or equipment decommissioned ahead of a site closure. Others know something is off across their operations but have not yet defined what “fixed” looks like, and need a partner to assess, design, and build a program with them.

Krieger is structured to do either, or anything in between, drawing on a complete portfolio of capabilities that includes Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV); Calibration; Owner’s Representative; Asset Management; Vendor Managed Services; and Project Management. Sometimes an engagement calls for one capability. Sometimes it calls for several. The scope follows the need. Whatever the scope, the accountability stays the same.

Closing the Gap Between What Firms Promise and What Clients Experience

Krieger’s approach also responds to a well-documented gap between how companies see themselves and how their customers see them. In PwC’s 2024 Trust Survey, 90 percent of executives said they believed customers highly trust their companies, while only 30 percent of consumers said the same. The same survey found that quickly resolving concerns and delivering a consistent, reliable experience are among the factors customers say matter most for earning their trust.

Krieger addresses that gap in practical ways. The team listens, asks, and keeps checking rather than assuming they’re right. When Krieger spots a risk or a better way of doing something, it tells the client, and what happens next is always the client’s call. The goal is to bring more expertise to every engagement, not to expand the scope.

The Regional Advantage

Greater Philadelphia is the heart of the pharmaceutical industry, and being here puts Krieger exactly where we need to be. Within a short drive of Doylestown are some of the most important names in life sciences, including GSK, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, BMS, and Sanofi, along with one of the country’s leading cell and gene therapy communities right in Philadelphia.

One of our core principles is simple: We meet you where you are. For a company like ours, that starts with literally being where life sciences organizations are. When a client needs an instrument calibrated, a system qualified, or a lab relocated, being close makes a real difference in how quickly we can respond.

The region also gives us something just as valuable: a deep pool of experienced professionals and industry relationships built over decades. That’s a big part of how a company in its first year can deliver at the level our clients expect.

The Team You Meet Is the Team You Keep

Over the past year, Krieger has grown its leadership team deliberately, adding experienced industry professionals in marketing and communications, asset management and relocations, people and culture, and regional leadership across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast. Each brings a proven track record from across the industry.

That leadership team personally oversees every engagement, from the first conversation through the life of the relationship. Behind them is an on-call network of experienced technicians and specialists Krieger can mobilize quickly once a contract is signed, along with international partnerships in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe.

“The people a client meets at the start are the people who lead the work,” said Morwald. “That hands-on continuity is something we promise every client, and it is one of the reasons we have been so careful about who joins this team.”

What’s next for Krieger Scientific heading into year two?

In year two, we intend to double down. That means increasing our investment in jobs and opportunities across the life sciences industry, not only in Pennsylvania but throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.

It starts here at home, with new office and metrology lab space opening in Doylestown in early 2027. We’re also actively looking for the right location for office and metrology lab space in North Carolina, and we’ll move forward when the right opportunity presents itself.

Beyond that, we have much more planned, but you’ll have to forgive us for not sharing it all just yet.
