Rockland Immunochemicals, Inc., a Pottstown, Pennsylvania-based global biotechnology company that has manufactured antibodies and life science reagents for more than 60 years, has announced that Angela Fernandez-Iglesias, Ph.D., has joined the company as Product Manager. Fernandez-Iglesias, who is also BioBuzz’s Ambassador in Philadelphia, brings a scientific background paired with commercial strategy, partnerships, and communications experience to Rockland’s research reagent portfolio.

In her new role, Fernandez-Iglesias will lead product management initiatives across Rockland’s reagent portfolio, partnering with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, and Customer Support to identify market opportunities, strengthen product positioning, and guide portfolio decisions. Her work translating complex biology into clear customer-facing value propositions makes her well suited to bridge Rockland’s deep scientific expertise with the commercial strategy needed to serve academic, biopharma, and diagnostic customers worldwide.
Fernandez-Iglesias arrives at Rockland after building a varied career at the intersection of science and communication following years in biomedical research. Most recently, she worked as a Scientific Writer and Innovation Strategy Consultant at Inspiralia, helping biotech and life sciences startups clarify value propositions and technical differentiation for non-dilutive funding applications, and as a writer and researcher at Goldblum Pollins & Dennis, PC, where she translated complex biomedical research into regulator-aligned narratives supporting immigration petitions for scientists and clinicians. She has also served as an Editorial and Insights Contributor for BioBuzz in Philadelphia and, in 2023, founded and continues to direct Ciencia con Acento, a bilingual STEM community initiative in Greater Philadelphia that positions Spanish-speaking scientists and professionals as leaders within the region’s biotech and academic ecosystems.
Fernandez-Iglesias’s scientific foundation runs deep. She completed a research specialist role in the Gene Therapy Program at the University of Pennsylvania supporting AAV capsid engineering programs, and previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia studying growth plate biology. Earlier in her career, she spent nearly six years as a research scientist at the University of Oviedo in Spain, leading in vivo research programs focused on growth disorders and chronic kidney disease, and was awarded an EMBO Short-Research Stay Fellowship to conduct research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedicine from the University of Oviedo, along with a master’s degree in Biomedicine and Molecular Oncology and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the same institution. She is bilingual in Spanish and English.
Reflecting on the winding path that led her here, from bench to writng to product management — Fernandez-Iglesias shared: “This position feels like the culmination of that journey: a role where I can bring together my scientific background, curiosity, communication skills, commercial interests, and love of connecting people and ideas. Sometimes the uncertain path is not a detour. It is the path.”
