Erin Hill has joined Genentech as Head of Material Management, supporting the startup of the company’s new greenfield manufacturing facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina. “I couldn’t be more excited to play a role in building out this incredible, state-of-the-art facility from the ground up,” Hill said. “We are going to be building something special here, and we can’t do it alone.”

In the role, Hill is responsible for building and leading the supply planning and logistics operations team for the new site, which represents Genentech’s first East Coast manufacturing facility. The company more than doubled its investment in the site to approximately $2 billion in January 2026, with the facility expected to produce next-generation treatments for metabolic conditions such as obesity when it becomes operational in 2029, generating more than 2,000 jobs.
Hill joins Genentech from Eli Lilly and Company, where she spent more than five years, most recently as Executive Director of Global Supply Chain, serving as global business partner and leader for the initiation of routine supply chain operations across six manufacturing plants worldwide. Before that, as Executive Director of Supply Chain and Logistics, she oversaw the startup, ramp, and routine operations for Lilly’s Research Triangle Park site in Durham, leading regulatory inspections for state manufacturing licensure and developing a multi-site logistics and digitalization strategy. She rose through the Lilly organization from Director of Logistics and Supply Chain, where she supported construction and licensure of what she described as the most automated device assembly facility in the company’s network.
Earlier in her career, Hill was Director of Supply Chain at Novartis Gene Therapies in Longmont, Colorado, where she oversaw daily supply chain operations supporting manufacturing, quality control, and commercial operations for the site, and led a People and Culture initiative to redevelop the organization’s culture. She also held supply chain and program management roles at AstraZeneca, Sandoz, Merck, and Intel, including leading a biologic tech transfer at AstraZeneca that saved the network more than $30 million through inventory consolidation.
Hill holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, and completed executive education in finance at Harvard Business School. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Supply Chain Professional.
