People on the Move: Greg Ciongoli Joins REGENXBIO’s Board of Directors

REGENXBIO Inc. has appointed Greg Ciongoli to its Board of Directors, effective August 25, 2026. The appointment coincides with the retirement of independent directors Jerry Karabelas, Ph.D., who had served on the board since 2015, and Jean Bennett, M.D., Ph.D., who had served since 2021.

About Greg Ciongoli

REGENXBIO President and CEO Curran Simpson said the board “has continued its strategic succession planning process to ensure the Company benefits from a complementary mix of scientific, clinical, commercial and capital markets expertise,” and that Ciongoli “brings a combination of financial and strategic expertise that will strengthen our Board as we advance our late-stage portfolio.” Board Chairman Ken Mills thanked the departing directors, saying their “leadership, insight, and commitment have helped shape the Company through a pivotal period of growth and innovation.” Ciongoli said he was “pleased to join REGENXBIO’s Board during this exciting and transformational time for the Company,” calling its pipeline “compelling” and “differentiated.”

Ciongoli is Founder and Managing Partner of Adiumentum Capital Management, a healthcare-focused investment firm. Before founding Adiumentum, he spent more than 16 years at The Baupost Group, most recently as Partner, Public Group Investing, where he focused on healthcare and biotechnology investments.

Ciongoli currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Atara Biotherapeutics, a role he assumed in 2025 after joining its board, and as a director of Zymeworks Inc. He has previously served on the boards of Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Intarcia Therapeutics, Keryx Pharmaceuticals, Orexigen Therapeutics, and Translate Bio, bringing extensive experience in corporate governance and strategic transformation across the biotechnology sector.

Ciongoli holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs.
