People on the Move: Mackenzie Reed Joins the Biotechnology Innovation Organization as Project Manager

Mackenzie Reed, PMP, has joined the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) as Project Manager, supporting the vice presidents and directors of the organization’s Regulatory Science team as the group’s first-ever Project Manager.

About Mackenzie Reed

Reed brings a background spanning bench science and project management across the biopharmaceutical industry to the role. She joins BIO from Miltenyi Biotec, where she spent five years, most recently as a Project Manager serving as the primary point of contact for 10+ client programs in a GMP-regulated environment, aligning scope, budget, timelines, and statements of work across Business Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Research & Development teams. Earlier at Miltenyi, she worked as a Project Coordinator supporting the company’s Global PMO and as a Research & Development Associate serving as Lab Captain, overseeing daily laboratory operations and performing molecular biology and cell culture techniques including flow cytometry, qPCR, and vector optimization.

Before Miltenyi, Reed spent nearly two years at MilliporeSigma, rising from Associate Scientist I to Associate Scientist III within its Viral Clearance laboratories, where she developed a standardized inventory management system, served as a certified Primary Trainer, and performed viral inactivations, spiking studies, and toxicity assays. She began her career as a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Weis Pharmacy and volunteered for two years as a Crisis Counselor with Crisis Text Line, providing mental and emotional support and short-term crisis intervention.

Reed holds a bachelor’s degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from Towson University and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
