Michael Utz has joined Madrigal Pharmaceuticals as Senior Director, Commercial Development – Marketing, bringing 30 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology sales and marketing experience to the company as it builds out commercialization of its MASH treatment.

Utz joins Madrigal from Teva Pharmaceuticals, where he spent nearly a decade in senior marketing leadership roles of increasing scope, most recently as Senior Director, Global Marketing, Launch Readiness for Olanzapine LAI. He previously served as Senior Director, Global Brand Lead for AJOVY, Senior Director, Global Biologics Commercial, Senior Director, Global Early Pipeline Assets and LCM, and Senior Director, Global Respiratory Marketing.
Before Teva, Utz spent nearly 13 years at EMD Serono, rising from Director of Marketing, US Neurology, to Head of New Product Planning and ultimately Vice President, Global New Product Planning. He began his career at Eli Lilly and Company, first as a Sales Representative and later as a Marketing Associate.
Utz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Villanova University.
