Reckitt Doubles Its Investment in North Carolina’s Largest OTC Manufacturing Facility

Reckitt has announced on September 16, 2026 up to $600 million in a multi-year transformation of its U.S. operations, with a major share of that investment going toward doubling its manufacturing footprint in Wilson, North Carolina — the site of what will become Reckitt’s largest OTC manufacturing facility in the U.S. Jérôme Lemaire, President, Reckitt North America, said: “With a legacy dating to 1892, Reckitt has maintained a significant presence across the U.S. for more than a century. Our iconic brands including Lysol® and Mucinex® are trusted by millions of American families spanning generations. Today’s investments will continue building our scientific leadership and R&D, drive new innovations and expand our infrastructure allowing Reckitt to increase access for consumers to high-quality health products.”

Doubling Down on a Facility First Announced in 2024

Reckitt has doubled its initial investment for its state-of-the art over-the-counter manufacturing facility in North Carolina. The site will become its largest OTC manufacturing facility in the U.S. with additional funding supporting expanded production capacity for Mucinex® tablets and liquids, as well as increased production volumes for Move Free®. “Mucinex is our #1 over-the-counter product in the U.S. and the #1 global cough and decongestant medicine so, with the rise in demand for cold and flu relief, we are taking action to expand access to our products and build a more resilient supply chain,” said Harald Emberger, Chief Supply Officer, Reckitt.

The facility is approximately 310,000 square feet and will be able to manufacture a wide range of tablets, to be open in the first half of 2027.This investment also significantly expands the facility’s physical footprint, creating the space needed to support future growth, enhance manufacturing flexibility, and accommodate new capabilities as demand evolves.

Chief R&D Officer on the Broader Innovation Push

Angela Naef, PhD, Chief R&D Officer, Reckitt, tied the North Carolina expansion to the company’s broader innovation strategy: “By bringing science, insight and execution closer together, we can move faster from discovery to delivery, developing high-quality, science-led solutions that meet evolving consumer needs and scale globally.” Reckitt currently employs more than 4,000 people across seven manufacturing sites and three science and innovation centers in the U.S.

A Second Piece of the Investment: New Jersey

The  $600 million is going toward Reckitt’s New Jersey campus, where the company recently relocated its commercial and operational teams and will next break ground on a new science and innovation center — described as a “germ protection hub” — focused on disinfection, microbiology, surface care, laundry care, and personal care. Reckitt will also host its first U.S. “Reckitt Focus On” event on November 19, where Lemaire and other U.S. leaders will showcase the North America business.
