People on the Move: Martin Heitmann Joins ProcellaRX as Strategic Partner in the Ascend Ecosystem

ProcellaRX, a life sciences firm focused on decision quality and AI governance within GxP-regulated environments, has welcomed Martin Heitmann and his firm MH Consulting & Advisory GmbH as a strategic partner within its Ascend Ecosystem. Heitmann brings more than a decade of experience guiding pharmaceutical and life sciences organizations through data, digital, and AI transformation, and will now contribute that expertise across ProcellaRX’s family of programs, including Decision Quality Intelligence (DQI), ForgeRX, the Reinvention Lab, and Quality TEA training.

About Martin

In his new role, Heitmann will support ProcellaRX’s mission of embedding AI governance into GxP quality systems from the outset, rather than retrofitting it after regulatory scrutiny forces the issue. It’s a natural extension of the work he has built his career around: translating emerging technology into regulatory practice that holds up under inspection. Within the life sciences AI governance community, Heitmann is a well-known name — he is lead author of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering’s (ISPE) GAMP® Guide: Artificial Intelligence and serves as Secretary of the GAMP Global Special Interest Group on Software Automation & Artificial Intelligence, a role he has held since 2024. When the industry looks for guidance on how AI should be governed in regulated environments, much of it traces back to work he helped author.

Heitmann founded MH Consulting & Advisory GmbH earlier this year, where he leads three service lines spanning consulting in data, digital, and AI; upskilling and AI literacy training; and technology and solution partnership services, with a focus on readiness assessments, governance implementation, quality system transformation, and platform architecture design. Before launching his own firm, he spent nearly nine years at d-fine, rising from Consultant to Senior Manager, and more recently served as a consultant with The Triality Group, where he supported life sciences organizations in advancing their data, digital, and quality capabilities. He has also served as Head of the Local Special Interest Group for GxP-compliant use of AI at GAMP D-A-CH and as a mentor, advisor, and ambassador for Bionabu.

Heitmann holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Business Mathematics from the University of Mannheim, both awarded with distinction, and is a Certified Financial Risk Manager, Professional Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Product Owner, and Qualified GAMP Trainer. He is based in Burgdorf, Niedersachsen, Germany, and continues to describe his approach to the work through three principles: integrity, reliability, and collaboration — acting in clients’ interests, keeping commitments, and uniting people around a shared goal.

Reflecting on the move, Heitmann framed it around a guiding question: what decisions need to be made today to create clarity tomorrow. “AI governance cannot exist in isolation,” he said. “It depends on robust digital foundations, clear accountability, and a decision-making framework that guides AI through its entire lifecycle.” He pointed to a shared philosophy with Dori Gonzalez-Acevedo, who leads the Ascend Ecosystem at ProcellaRX, noting that sustainable digital transformation isn’t achieved through technology alone, but through deliberate decisions, strong governance, and the capabilities that let organizations innovate with confidence. By combining ProcellaRX’s Decision Quality Intelligence approach with his own background in AI governance for regulated environments, Heitmann said the goal is to help organizations strengthen the foundations needed to scale innovation responsibly.

In welcoming Heitmann, Gonzalez-Acevedo said the move reflects a broader philosophy of bringing together top talent for ProcellaRX’s customers and working with people who want to move the needle. She noted that AI governance has to be built in early, not bolted on after an inspection forces the question — and that Heitmann has spent his career proving exactly that.

About ProcellaRX

ProcellaRX operates as a hub for decision quality and AI governance in life sciences, connecting specialized programs under its Ascend Ecosystem, including Decision Quality Intelligence (DQI), ForgeRX, the Reinvention Lab, and Quality TEA training. The firm positions itself around helping GxP-regulated organizations build AI governance and quality practices into their operations proactively, rather than reacting to regulatory pressure after the fact, and works to bring together specialized partners and practitioners in service of that goal.
