People on the Move: Lisa Sykes-Winstead Joins OXB as Vice President of Quality US Operations

OXB has named Lisa Sykes-Winstead, MBA, MSc, CQA, Vice President of Quality US Operations, based in Durham, North Carolina. “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Vice President of Quality US Operations at OXB,” Sykes-Winstead said of the move.

About Lisa Sykes-Winstead

Sykes-Winstead brings more than 25 years of quality operations leadership in highly regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments to the role. She joins OXB from FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, where she served as Senior Director, Quality Assurance, in Morrisville, North Carolina.

Before that, Sykes-Winstead spent four years as Site Quality Head, Senior Director at Resilience in Durham, where she oversaw quality systems, quality operations, and quality control for the biopharmaceutical manufacturing site, led three gene therapy product approvals, and guided the site through an acquisition transition. She spent nearly seven years at Merck, rising from Director, End to End Quality Lead to Site Quality Head, where she navigated an FDA inspection within her first month in the role and drove a 40% increase in delivery to patients through new Quality Management System metrics.

Earlier in her career, Sykes-Winstead was Director of Remediation Execution and Quality Systems at Hospira, later acquired by Pfizer, where she led a team of consultants to overhaul more than 1,100 standard operating procedures under the terms of a consent decree. She spent more than five years at Pfizer in a series of quality roles, including Quality Assurance Disposition Manager and QP Liaison and Quality Systems Manager, and began her career with more than five years as a QA Specialist at Human Genome Sciences.

Sykes-Winstead holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Paul’s College, a Master of Business Administration from Iona College, and a Master’s degree in Regulatory Science from the University of Maryland. She is a Certified Quality Auditor through the American Society for Quality and a Certified Qualified Person Liaison through David Begg & Associates.
