Greater Philadelphia – Regional Life Sciences Roundup – November 5, 2026
This week in Greater Philadelphia, growth came from adding to what was already working. Instead of starting from scratch, companies brought in the technology, partners, and people that could take an existing business further.
The biggest deals made that clear. Agilent agreed to acquire Proscia for up to $270 million, bringing its AI-enabled digital pathology platform under one roof with a long-time partner. Audubon-based Globus Medical acquired Synaptive Medical, adding surgical planning, navigation, and visualization technology to a cranial neurosurgery business it had already built. And INOVIO received FDA accelerated approval for VOCERYQ™, moving an immunotherapy for recurrent respiratory papillomatosis toward a commercial launch in early 2027.
The same thinking showed up across the region’s teams and facilities. Made Scientific named James Leba to lead technical operations across its New Jersey and Pennsylvania sites as it prepares for new manufacturing programs. Uniquity Bio brought on Dr. Nikhil Mehta as an advisor ahead of potential late-stage development. And BioPharmaSpec nearly tripled its Malvern lab, adding room for instruments and the people to run them.
Globus Medical isn’t just buying capabilities. It’s hiring for them too, with 177 open roles across the region right now.
