Reflect on your career path up to this position as a recent college graduate. How have your previous experiences prepared you for your new role at McBee Moore & Vanik IP, LLC?

As a recent college graduate, I have learned many valuable skills, not only in the past four years at the University of Florida but also at my first job out of college. I graduated with a degree in Advertising and was navigating life through a pandemic. I learned that challenges and obstacles are important in your life and help you grow even if they make you uncomfortable. I have also learned that being able to build a sense of community where you live/work is very valuable in making a positive impact on your mental health.

What made you want to make the jump from a solely marketing-based role to a career in law?

Having a background in Advertising really helped me learn the ins and outs of different markets, and target audiences, and ultimately allowed me to be creative. My previous role before this was very hands-on and I was always running around shooting content or writing. When I had the opportunity to come work for McBee Moore & Vanik IP, LLC I knew I had to take it! I had always been interested in law and considered being a paralegal quite a few times throughout college but never made the leap until now. Patent law is something I have always found interesting and knew that being able to incorporate science, law, and marketing would be the best for me!

What are you most looking forward to in this new role?

This new role opens many doors and allows me to explore all sides of my interests. I can work as a Junior IP Specialist, and I am able to help with the firm’s marketing efforts. Getting to dive into patent law, while creating content is something I am very much looking forward to and gives me the opportunity to take part in both the intellectual/creative sides, which I really appreciate.

How will this role challenge you and help you grow?

Patent law is very new to me, and I think being able to learn and grow in a new environment only helps you challenge yourself. Plus working in law and marketing allows new avenues for creativity in a field I have never explored before this, and of course, being surrounded by such an amazing group of individuals who help you along the way is something I am very grateful for.
