It’s no secret that the current state of the economy has made it difficult for life science companies, particularly startups, to raise capital. If you’re looking for funding this summer, be sure to check out these upcoming opportunities from Johnson & Johnson Innovation.

BLUE KNIGHT™ QuickPitch: Activating for the Future

The COVID-19 pandemic exemplified the importance of disease outbreak preparedness. And while COVID-19 has waned over the past year, this doesn’t mean we can let our guard down for preparing for future disease outbreaks.

To that end, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, together with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), is proud to launch the BLUE KNIGHT™ QuickPitch: Activating for the Future.

Innovators are invited to submit potentially ground-breaking ideas or technologies that aim to enhance preparedness toward future known and unknown health threats, including emerging pathogens.

Awards: Up to 10 innovator(s) with the best potential solution will earn the opportunity to pitch to a panel of industry experts including Johnson & Johnson and BARDA leadership at JLABS @ Washington, DC on August 29. In addition, applicants may be invited to join BLUE KNIGHT™ through residency at the hub at JLABS @ Washington, DC, based on their applications and/or presentations.

Deadline:  June 23, 2023

Inflammatory Bowel Disease QuickFire Challenge

About 1.3 million people are living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the United States, and data suggests that adults with IBD are more likely to have other chronic conditions than those without IBD. Despite this prevalence, there is limited data about the epidemiology, disease characteristics and outcomes, particularly in BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) populations.

Johnson & Johnson Innovation and Janssen Research & Development have launched the Inflammatory Bowel Disease QuickFire Challenge: Innovating for Health Equity. US-based innovators are invited to submit data-driven research methodologies, tools or technologies that aim to better understand the manifestations of IBD and determinants of health disparity in diverse racial and ethnic communities.

Awards: Innovator(s) with the best potential solution will receive grant funding from a total pool of up to $250,000, access to the global Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS network, and mentorship from experts across The Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies for one year.
