Mark VanderZyl Joins Wexford Science & Technology as Founding Site Director for Connect Labs Baltimore

Wexford Science & Technology, LLC, announced that Mark VanderZyl will serve as the founding site director for Connect Labs Baltimore. Slated to open in November 2024, this new facility will be a cornerstone of Wexford’s innovation infrastructure, and VanderZyl’s extensive experience will be crucial to its success.

Wexford Science & Technology is renowned for creating innovative, amenity-rich Knowledge Communities that drive growth and collaboration. The Connect Labs Baltimore facility, located in the new 4MLK building at the University of Maryland BioPark, will offer 35,000 square feet of flexible lab and office space. Kathy Webb, Wexford’s Vice President of Connect Labs, expressed her confidence in Mark’s new role, saying, “I am excited to welcome Mark to the Connect Labs Baltimore team. Mark VanderZyl joins Connect Labs Baltimore as the founding site director, bringing a wealth of experience in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Most recently, Mark served as the Associate Director of Startup Advancement at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, where he was dedicated to supporting startups through essential resources, funding opportunities, mentorship, and industry connections. His role at FastForward, the innovation hub at Johns Hopkins University, saw him as a bridge connecting startups with the tools they need to succeed.

Mark has played a pivotal role in leading and supporting strategic initiatives in drug development, molecular diagnostics, and digital health. His efforts have also focused on building robust partnerships within the Baltimore ecosystem and beyond, contributing to a vibrant entrepreneurial community.
