Meet Shamar Greenwood: Client Success Specialist, Workforce Genetics/BioBuzz

Shamar Greenwood joined the Workforce Genetics/BioBuzz team six months ago as its Client Success Specialist. He has hit the ground running, applying his skills to help the team and taking on new tasks as they arise. Whether coordinating a big client meeting, helping to manage the BioBuzz job board or shooting, editing, and delivering awesome event videos, Shamar has been a terrific addition to the Workforce Genetics/BioBuzz family.

His responsibilities as a Client Success Specialist are wide and varied, which suits his diverse skill set. Greenwood is the primary client services liaison for the company, serving as the main point of contact between Sponsors, Featured Employers, and talent search clients; his central role is ensuring strong communication among the teams and striving to deliver the best possible client experience consistently.

Greenwood was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and still calls Charm City home. He is a graduate of Morgan State University, and to say his Baltimore roots run deep is an understatement. But that’s not unique at Workforce Genetics—his colleagues Ezekiel Kelly, Chris Frew, and Adam Van Bavel are also lifelong Baltimore area residents.

“I chose to join Workforce Genetics because the team is all about building and growing communities. It was also a great opportunity to develop my career and learn new skills. It was important to me to join a progressive company that helps other progressive companies in the communities I visit every day,” shared Greenwood.

“Shamar has been a great addition to our team. He brings a palpable energy to everything he does and he’s really fearless. Whether it’s running a client meeting, greeting and talking with people at an event, creating compelling videos, or helping me with business development work, he jumps right in, asks questions, and is very thoughtful when interacting with our team as well as the teams of our clients,” stated Adam Van Bavel, Head of Business Development.

“My passion is helping people and telling their stories. In my role I get the opportunity to work with clients who are on the cutting edge of the life sciences industry and who are researching and solving health issues that help everyday people. As a Client Success Specialist, I’m able to help put our clients in the spotlight and be their megaphone,” added Greenwood.

Workforce Genetics and its media arm, BioBuzz, are all about building up life sciences ecosystems and the wider communities where they arise, be it in the BioHealth Capital Region (Maryland, Virginia and DC), Greater Philadelphia, or the Research Triangle in North Carolina. This includes creating great experiences for employers, job seekers, and other important stakeholders within these hubs.

“That’s really the key to what we do here,” stated Chris Frew, CEO of Workforce Genetics and the founder of BioBuzz. “We work to deliver great experiences to life sciences job seekers and employers in these communities. That could be a networking event at a local brewery, a hiring event onsite featuring a panel, sharing the success stories of individuals and companies and explaining why a certain organization is a great place to work and grow.”

“We are all about building community and our entire team gets that, including Shamar, who plays an important role in making great experiences happen for our partners and audiences,” added Frew.

“I really get a lot out of helping our team make collisions happen between people or companies that might never have connected otherwise. In the end a stronger life sciences community means improving patients’ lives or even saving them. That’s a great feeling and I know that’s what drives our team forward every day,” added Greenwood.
