TEDCO has announced the appointment of Direna Cousins as Vice President of Marketing, where she will lead enterprise marketing, communications, brand strategy, and market development initiatives across Maryland’s innovation ecosystem.
In the role, Cousins will focus on expanding awareness of TEDCO’s programs, partnerships, and statewide impact while helping strengthen the organization’s position as a driving force for entrepreneurship and technology commercialization in Maryland. TEDCO described the position as central to advancing long-term engagement, visibility, and ecosystem growth.
“TEDCO’s Development & Marketing team is already achieving success,” said Tammi Thomas in the announcement, citing the organization’s recent growth in media visibility, press coverage, and newsletter engagement.
Cousins brings more than a decade of experience spanning strategic marketing, communications, journalism, television production, and ecosystem development. Prior to joining TEDCO, she worked in the transportation and mobility technology sector, leading enterprise growth and engagement initiatives across government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, academia, and emerging technology organizations.
Her background also includes early-career experience as a journalist and communications professional in Washington, D.C., where she covered Capitol Hill, local and national news, and digital media production. TEDCO noted that this experience helped shape her approach to storytelling, executive visibility, and strategic engagement.
“I’m excited to be joining TEDCO as Vice President of Marketing and becoming part of a team that is helping shape the future of entrepreneurship and economic growth across Maryland,” Cousins shared in the announcement.
Cousins holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Montreat College and an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
