Bradley Gillenwater Named Manager of Business & Innovation Development at Maryland Department of Commerce, Office of Life Sciences

Bradley Gillenwater has stepped into the role of Manager of Business and Innovation Development at the Maryland Department of Commerce, Office of Life Sciences. He aims to address needs of the sector through developing and implementing programs and initiatives beneficial to Maryland’s biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, and health information technology companies and organizations while collaborating with partners within and outside the state. He joins a dynamic team alongside Stefanie Trop, Director, and Matthew Cimino, Senior Manager of Business Development.

Gillenwater is eager to contribute, stating “Maryland’s life sciences sector is thriving and poised for further growth. It’s been exciting for me over the past few years to observe the local community increasingly coalescing, collaborating, and communicating among itself while raising its profile domestically and internationally. And I’m fortunate and excited to now be in a position to be amplifying and aiding in the further development of this critically important industry for our state.”

About Bradley Gillenwater

Bradley Gillenwater rejoins Commerce after seven years, during which time he held leadership positions with a series of cancer research funding non-profit organizations. From June 2022 until the beginning of this month, he served as the senior U.S. representative of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, overseeing the Australian charity’s U.S. market penetration efforts. From October 2017 to May 2022, Gillenwater was a senior director with a trio of affiliated Maryland and Asian charities: the National Foundation for Cancer Research, Asian Fund for Cancer Research and AIM-HI Accelerator Fund. While through to October 2017, he was Commerce’s longtime Asia regional manager with its Office of International Investment and Trade and, temporarily, its acting director. Gillenwater and his family live in Towson.
