1) What did you want to be when you grow up? How’d you get from there to here?
We encourage you to use this as an opportunity to authentically connect with readers and share your journey across education, training, and career path.
Growing up, I was always fascinated by plants and nature. This deep interest in plants flourished into a broader fascination with biology and science as I progressed through school. I knew that I wanted to become a scientist and wanted to continue my studies within the realm of the life sciences.
With my academic training and experience in the lab researching biological systems and disease mechanisms, I developed a strong foundation in science. As I grew in my career, I became increasingly interested in translational science, how discoveries in the lab can be transformed into technologies that ultimately help patients
In an effort to support scientists and advance research programs, I transitioned from the lab into project management roles, where I worked with cross-functional teams across biologics discovery and development. These experiences strengthened my ability to coordinate complex projects, align stakeholders, and drive programs forward.
Over time, I naturally gravitated toward business development, focusing on building strategic partnerships and working closely with biotech and pharmaceutical teams to connect their research needs with the right scientific platforms and solutions. I’m particularly interested in opportunities that sit at the intersection of science, strategy, and collaboration, including business development and life science consulting roles that help translate innovation into real-world impact.
2) How are you helping to build a more connected community?
BioBuzz’s mission is simple: to be more connected. Our regionally-focused storytelling, programs, events and experiences create, connect and amplify impact across the life science workforce in growing biohubs. We vibe with people who value community and connection like us. We’d love for you to share how you’re building a more connected community… and any support that you need from our community to continue to accomplish this mission
Building connections within the life sciences community has been an important part of my professional journey. I’ve spent years at the intersection of science and partnerships, helping bioscience and pharmaceutical teams find the right tech, services, and people to move their work forward. Honestly, nothing beats the feeling of bringing together the right people, ideas, and chances at just the right moment.
Right now, I’m the Digital Engagement Lead for BioBuzz in Greater Philadelphia, which keeps life interesting. I’m the one behind the camera at events, snapping photos, shooting videos, and capturing those moments that show what our industry is really about. I talk with participants and speakers, then share their stories on social media. It’s a great way to highlight the energy and innovation coming out of our region’s life sciences scene.
Through my work with BioBuzz, I get to open doors for people to help them meet, swap ideas, and build collaborations that last. Groups like BioBuzz are essential for enhancing the growth of the local biosciences industry, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of this effort and learning from other community members.
3) What are currently buzzing about? Anything and everything…
From professional projects to personal pursuits and just about everything in between, be authentic and focus on what’s driving and exciting you right now. Feel free to focus on a handful of things in depth or bullet in listicle form.
Things feel busy in the best way right now. I’m exploring new opportunities in life sciences business development and consulting. I am blending my science background with strategy, partnerships, and a real drive to connect people. I love working with biotech companies, helping them find the right tech, services, and collaborators to push research forward. That’s where I feel most in my element.
On top of that, I’m the Digital Engagement Lead at BioBuzz here in Greater Philly. I get to cover events, interview folks, and share stories about the people and breakthroughs driving our local biotech scene. Honestly, there’s nothing like capturing that energy and shining a spotlight on the work shaping our biohub. It feels good to be part of it.
Big picture, I’m always up for meeting new people, exploring what’s next in tech, and staying active in Philly’s life sciences community. It keeps things exciting.
4) If you could travel back in time – what early career advice would you give yourself? OR What career advice would you shout from the rooftops now? The more the merrier…
My advice to my younger self regarding career development would be to exhibit courage and take risks. At the beginning of the career path, it can be easy to want to follow a structured approach to career development or to wait until ready to take the next step. The reality is, sometimes the greatest opportunities lie outside the realm of your comfort zone, trusting that you will be able to successfully navigate your way through to completing your task.
Another important message to my younger self would be about building resiliency. The path of a career is rarely straight, and the instances of obstacles and unexpected turns will create new opportunities and perspectives within your field. Resiliency is extremely important in the life sciences, where uncertainties, changes, and learning curves are present in the development of your career path.
If I had to shout something from the rooftops, I would say to my younger self to “be curious, be courageous, and don’t be afraid to try something new”. Growth often takes place right before you feel ready to move forward.
7. What’s something that you love to do or are passionate about (hobby, sport, things you do with your family, etc) and what do you love about it?
I enjoy gardening and photography as they bring me a level of calm and satisfaction to my life. Gardening has always given me a sense of peace and satisfaction; seeing plants develop over time, tending to them as they grow, and being reminded that small things in life take time and can produce something wonderful.
Photography gives me the ability to record my experiences, whether it be a memory of a person, a moment in nature, or a little bit of detail that others may never see. I like to take photographs of flowers, nature and everyday events. It is a way for me to express my creativity through the lens of my camera as well as to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the world.
Both gardening and photography help me stay connected to nature, which has always been something that inspires me and keeps me grounded.
